actually you can reuse the airbag itself, but you need a revision C slipring, steering coloumn controller needs to bee a CH revision, and if you have cruise control, the stalk has to be replaced with the 1K0 953 513 G stalk from the Mk 6.
i have function in 10 of the 12 buttons on the sw. you should be able to gain function of all 12 buttons, but i believe it requires the latest revision canbus gateway.

The revised canbus; do i have to get that done by a dealership?

:D YIPEEEEE all sorted now. when i put new steering module on the pin connecters were slightly different and when i connected it to the G85 one of the pins had bent and not connected properley. re fitted it after straightening the pins (carefully) and re did the adaptions (took two mins) and we are all good all working properley and no fault codes. :D :D :D :D its much easier stripping and fitting the modules and wheel second time round, the whole lot took me 40mins
thanks for all your help im off to pub now for a christmas drink much happier than I would of been.
next stop highline clocks :D
forgot to say its not for my golf but my caddy van lol

CQ is NOT!!!! fine
what kind of steering wheel do you have? with multifunction buttons or without?
what car do you have? from what I see it is a mk4 TDI, if it really is a mk4 than you don't need to buy anything just need to a retrofit to the airbag wiring(also you should know that the airbag will probably not work because of the car incompatability)

Hmm, the tread is called mk 6 sw to mk 5, so i asume he has a mk 5.
Why do you find CQ to not be fine??

if you want to know what is compatible you can look at this page from ross tech wiki
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Steering_Wheel_Control_Module_Versions

as you can see CQ is a midline module so it is only compatible with the non multifunction mk6 steering wheel
second it does not have the steering angle sensor, so it will cause many fault codes.
the moduls that are compatible to a mk5 to a mk6 multifinction steering wheel are the CH, CK(from the info on the page, I did not see anyone try to do it with this module) and the CJ(I believe it can also fit)
if you have a steering wheel without multifunction buttons(I have to mention that I see no point in doing this kind of retrofit, if someone already buys the steering module and a new steering wheel why not getting a multifunction ones for almost the same price)
I believe that CN and CM will be alright for this kind of retrofit

Hi Guys,

I have bought a MK5, 9 months ago, I changed it in my profile.
But I saw already that CQ won't work.
Bought this,
MK6 steering wheel including MF (I don't have MF right now)
1K0953549CH (Steering module)
1K0953513G (CC MK6)
1K0953519H (Washer MK6)
1K0959653C
1K0907530AF (CAN Gateway)

I also bought 1K0953549BS (from Scirocco 3), only the LIN version(v1.3) and Software (SW 0101) version are different. Is the BS version also working?

you are good to go, good luck:thumbsup:

about the BS module it will not work with the mk6 steering wheel. it will only work with the mk5 multifunction steering wheel.
use the CH module in your installation..

cc stalk

Hi guys quick question about the cruise control stalk, the part number 1K0953513G which is from the mk6, has been used as far back as 2005 according to ETKA

or is it because its a new part that is fully backwards compatible with all golfs back to 2005, hope someone can answer as new steering wheel is on the way and i only had cruise retro fitted by vw 6 months ago and was hoping i didn't need a new stalk as well.

Also the CH control module is 150 quid from vw, 107 from eBay taiwan would you trust a purchase from there or just get it from VW.

Cheers guys

From a newbie
