Nikon D40... any good for a newbie to photography?

Ok im looking at buying an SLR camera, ive seen the Nikon D40 which is a reasonable price, what are peoples thoughts?

good starter camera, lenses must have motor if your wanting auto focus. I have a D60 if i could go back and do it again i would have probably bought a used D200, but i do like my D60 alot, but it makes my lens selection a bit limited.
