Anyone know some good, safe, low-traffic places to let one's fast loose for a bit? So far I've discovered:

  • Highway 407 on a Sunday night
  • Cochrane road (business park near Hwy 7 and East Valhalla Rd) in Markham
  • Enterprise Drive in Markham

Back in Ottawa there was an old airport runway that people could use. Last night when I was doing my break in, I used Hwy 400 and Hwy 407 when they had low-to-no traffic, but I'd really rather not go all out on roads where I can't control the variables.

thats wise, considering you dont wanna ruin your GTI on a variable you cannot control.. why not take it to a track where you can do some time trials and kick it as fast as you can with no worries...

Yeah, autocross and tracks are definitely on my list. I want to take some performance driving courses as well. But my fast ... it doesn't know how to wait for those things! :)

Anything east of Markham Rd (Hwy 48) and north of elgin mills (about 5 minutes north).

You should be able to smoke it on those roads without worry
