Maybe the wrong forum all together, but I thought i would give it a shot.

Is any computer manufacturer making an IBM compatible version of the MacBook Air?

I need/want a super light laptop w/ a 17 inch monitor. I prefer Microsoft over the Mac os, just cause this computer is for work.

The MacBook Air is a 13.3" screen not a 17".

Sony makes a comparable Viao that has a 13.3" screen.

Also I am not a big Dell fan but my brother got one of the m1330's which have a 13.3" screen and it is pretty nice and VERY light. It isn't thin like the Air though. Because of it's design.

You are not going to find anything light and thin with a 17" screen though...7.5lbs is probably as light as you'd find. I'm not 100% on that though.

You could put windows on a mac book air.

Theres a specific category for these laptops, ultra light, ultra portable or something like that. A number of manufacturers have light models.

Oh my, he wants a 17" notebook that's thin and light? I can't think of any. Sorry about my earlier post.

17 isn't necessary, i guess i can always plug it into a bigger monitor when I'm at my desk.

the x300 looks really interesting. Thanks.
