Difference I think is in perspective. Try creating a single vanishing point like him and that may make the car more dynamic. Seems he was also slightly more liberal in it coming together... letting your brain fill it into reality. Not sure that helps but I dig...

all he did was taking one shot after another of everything around in slightly different angles and then merged together with photoshop or something. definitely its not made from just one picture

did u use a tripod?
maybe variations in height and angle kept certain combinations
from retaining their original dimensional view?
