sick of trying to do shit on my ass-slow g4 powerbook, so i pulled the trigger on a new machine yesterday...

shuttle sg31g2
intel core2quad Q6600
4GB corsair
evga nvidia geforce 7600GT 256MB
500GB western digital
linksys WMP54G
samsung DVD burner

= ~$800

hopefully kalyway leopard will install smoothly

Make sure the Q6600's model number ends with SLACR. That's the G0 stepping.

i'm not too concerned about what stepping i get. not really planning on overclockin this thing; shuttle form-factor doesn't really allow for fancy cooling systems

processor speed isn't quite right... the q6600 is definitely running at 2.4ghz.

My Q6600 is running @ 3.0GHZ on all cores on air. Great processor for the $$. You need a better vid card.

i don't really play too many games, cept for old shit like counter-strike and quake3 so the 7600GT is more than enough. plus that shizz was like $60, haha

pretty painless. booted it up, installed leopard, patched audio+ethernet, good to go. only my wifi card isn't being recognized by os x... :\

anyways i fixed the fckin clock speed on the Q6600, haha!

Hey, nice config on your hack.

I had a question though about your wifi card.

Do you know which rev of the wmp54g card you have? Is it v4.1, if so, did you have to do anything special to get it to work?

I have made the same box. Everything is perfect except part of clock speed.
My machine shows 1.3Ghz instead of 2.4.
:help: Please tell me how did you fix the fc..ing clock speed as I was not able to find any information about that. :iono:

i haven't gotten the wmp54g working yet... i'm sharing my powerbook's internet through a crossover cable right now. :\
