Ok, not trying to start anything here. The best part is the car is my friend's dads. He has Revo tuning, CAI, exhaust, and a short shifter. We rolled from 70 or so in 4th gear. I must say how proud I am of my GTI. He only began to inch on me near the top of fourth gear, so we let off. He couldn't believe it himself as we were talking on our cell phones. I got to ride around in it and was very impressed. That is a sweet car. These things seem incredibly strong from a roll for what they are.
He did say afterwards he would have been hurt if I had the Revo on mine. I also know I didn't want any from a dig.

i assume this is the MK4 R32. very good car i think.

if were talking about unmodded cars, the MK5 GTI is probably around the same as a MK4 R32.

obviously things wouldve been slightly different with a MK5 R32 racing.

Sounds like you had fun!

Too bad I've never even seen an R32 over here in Quebec. Did they ever sell them here, or is it just that no one wanted to buy one? :iono:

if your talking about both cars manual on a straight run, theres maybe half a sex diff

but if the MK5 is a DSG and both are driving corners, theres more difference.

Mate my best friends brother has a stock MKIV and its deffinatly quicker in a straight line than the GTi and the sound it makes while doing it is awesome !:burnrubber:

Maybe on a road course, but I doubt it in a straight line. Both of them run low to mid 14's in the 1/4 mile.

His sounded fantastic. Here's the test from Sept 04 Car and Driver
Zero to 60 mph: 6.0 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 15.2 sec
Street start, 5-60 mph: 6.8 sec
Standing 1/4-mile: 14.3 sec @ 97 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 128 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 158 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.89 g
EPA fuel economy, city driving: 19 mpg

He's a little on the optimistic side when he said it does 165 with the Revo tuning and mods........

Those are some nice stock numbers. But there are chipped MKV GTI's out there that are running faster 1/4 mile times than that already. I'm not scared of no R32. Uh-oh, I had to open my mouth.
