First, the image needs to be hosted somewhere. Personally, I upload stuff to ImageShack, but there are other places. Please, please, please do not leach images from other sites. It takes up their bandwidth (which costs money) without their permission.

Once the image is on the internet, you need to put it into your message. You will need the url of the image, then you put it in your message like so:
Code:
[img ]http://www.the-image's-url-goes-here[/img ]
(ignore the spacing inside the brackets, that's to get it to show up properly)

You can also click the little icon above the text field that looks like a picture of a mountain. That brings up a new window in which to paste the image url and puts in the IMG tags automatically. Or you can paste the url into your text, highlight it, and click the icon to put tags around the url.

If you use ImageShack, you get some code already done up for you. You use "Thumbnail for forums" to put a small image into your forum post that can be clicked for a full size image. Useful for giant images. There's also code that says "Hotlink for forums." This puts your image directly into your post. Useful for images under 600 pixels wide.

Close, you grabbed the wrong code. Get the stuff with the square brackets ([ and ]) not the angle brackets (< or >).

You grabbed the "Thumbnail for websites" code, not the "Thumbnail for forums" code.

If you quote my post, you will see how the code should look.

OK I am getting frustrated with trying to get pictures to show up inside my forum posts here. I upload them to the proper websites yet they still don't show up here.

What am I doing wrong? I put the url of the picture in between the things just like I am supposed to and I still get nothing.

I'm starting to get pissed off.

if the image is already on your computer you can also go to manage attachments and upload them to the site.

Just tried uploading it using the "manage attachments button but it timed out twice and said it had a "fatal error"

is the pic larger than allowed? on the "manage attachments" page, it will tell you the max. res. as well as the max file size for the type of file you're uploading.

No, the jpeg is 220 KB. Your site says I can go up to 585 KB.

I have tried using photobucket and flickr.

Here is what I'm doing

1) Upload pic to said picture site.

2) Type forum response

a) choose "insert picture" which brings up the "http://" and then it wants you to enter the url of the picture.

3) I copy and paste the url of the picture and click ok

4) I submit reply.

Now, when i choose to insert the picture everything looks OK. It looks like this:

[IMG ]http://www.flickr.com/photos/26381369@N05/2475618353/[IMG ]. I added spaces to get this to show up. Now, the problem is when I do this, it looks like the following would if the pic would actually show up in the brackets below:

What? You didn't see anything? Yeah, neither did I. That is what keeps happening. What am I doing wrong. I've tried posting this image in another thread this morning and it won't show up in my actual post. You have the url to the image. Can anyone get it to show up in this thread and tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks a hundred trillion dollars!

looks like I got something, but I only see a little box win a question mark on mi phone. is the photo visible?
