Most short shifters on the market simply reduce front to back shifter throw. For instance, they reduce the amount you must move the shifter to go from 1st to 2nd gear. The side to side short throw shifter reduces movement of the shifter from left to right. This would reduce the amount you must move (side to side) when going from say 2nd gear to 3rd gear. The amount of lateral movement required is decreased. Hope this helps! :thumbup:
