i will post pics if you want, what other mods have you done or are you both thinking about? I am looking at KW sport springs to lower 35mm and the mesh grill on ebay (just not sure what the mesh grill will look like on my laser blue but will probably paint it anyway) also the smoked side repeaters will be my next mod from www.awesome-gti.co.uk.

I have a 1.6 FSI too. Getting my first mod done on Friday - Lowering by 35mm. I'd be very interested in seeing anyone who has had theirs done by 35mm.

If you class putting Alloy Wheels on as a mod, it'll be my second mod.

Been wanting to lower it for ages but finally took the plunge. I don't know much about modding, i've never done any on any of my past cars (Corsa, Polo) basically because they were great cars, I loved them but I have always wanted a Golf (Since a kid) and now I have my car so will actually do abit to this as I will keep it for longer than my past cars, someone I know has suggested an Induction kit, i'm not really sure. I also like to show my exhaust, I'd love the R32 rear bumper and exhaust but I have only been able to find it on one website and it is very expensive.

Look at my garage (In my profile on the right hand side) there are some pics in there obviously pre lowering, but I do have my wheels on it in those pictures. I will post pics after Friday after getting it lowered if I get time.

Yeah Audi RS8 Wheels.

There really nice wheels however they have got not chips but mark all over them which I cannot get rid off, and it makes the look really cheap. Think it must be stone chip/marks or something - Don't notice it when the wheels are moving though

I forgot how much - Think it must have been £500...not sure though. It was a fairly good deal I got on them anyway.

And you lowering it at a garage, Getting it done at the same place as I got my wheels - VW specialist.

Don't worry I know fuk all aswell. If you look in my thread I have posted the link to below you will see questions I had on lowering and answers people gave me.

http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52064

You have 3 options (3 Options that I know of anyway, as I said I know fuk all)
a) Buy new springs, This is the cheapest option. (I think)
b) Buy new springs and shocks (This gives you a better ride - But from what i've been told majority of times you won't need shocks - This doubles the price compared to just springs.)
c) Coilovers - Coilovers allow you to adjust the hight. These are very expensive though.

Other probably know more, in short - Yes you do need new springs. Which of the top of my head roughly will cost £200 fitted I think.

Ye those options are right, the only thing with new springs is that with new springs on standard shocks they will wear out in say a year or so im not sure depends also on the way you drive, so make sure you get springs that arnt to harsh of a ride!!

Ye its good to see more freindly faces in the UK with non-GTI's all keep posting your mods and questions!

Shep :)
