Editors Note/Disclaimer: This post is lengthy... Take your time and read everything, I took a long time to write it for a reason... I have worked for the past 3 months to finalize all the information for this thread so everything can go smooth like butter. Enjoy and I absolutely can not wait for the 22nd!
Ladies and gentleman, European car enthusiasts of all ages, I am extremely proud to present to you; WüsteFest 2007. WüsteFest started as a idea to have a small group from SoCal caravan to Vegas for a weekend. Simple as that. After putting some legwork into this, I saw that there were many interested in doing this. From there, people from areas outside of SoCal were wanting the join in on the festivities. So, WüsteFest was born.
WüsteFest's Mission Statement: I, along with the rest of the Pure Euro members intend for WüsteFest to be an incredible weekend of activities, events, and all-around fun (yes, for all-ages). The goal is to bring the European car enthusiast community together for one weekend dedicated to our love for our cars. The point is to HAVE FUN. No show-politics, no cliques, no competition... We will drive, party, hang out, eat, and have an incredible time.
This event has spiraled to a point that I could never have imagined. We have people attending from as far away as CANADA! (eh!)
First-And-Foremost... Hotel Info
To those that booked at Imperial Palace, thank you for doing everything on schedule... You're all set! I'm almost positive that there won't be an issue, but please realize that while this might be a weekend-long party with a bunch of friends, you are staying in a hotel room on the Las Vegas Strip. Please be responsible and intelligent in your actions... I don't want to get any phone-calls about people in jail. There is a zero tolerance for marijuana in Nevada, and it is illegal to drink if you are under 21... If you have any questions re: check in etc, please call (800) 800-2981.
To those that decided to be lazy and not book your hotel rooms before the deadline, I have signed for an additional 30 rooms at The Artisan Hotel... Thank me later. Rates are $79/night + taxes and, like every other hotel, there must be at least one person over 21 "staying" in the room (by "staying" I mean present at check-in).
It is located just off the 15 on Sahara and is just a couple miles from Imperial Palace. For a map, Click Here.
The Artisan is a 3-star hotel and they have been amazing with taking care of us this late in the game. These are non-smoking rooms... and that's about the only thing that they are very strict about. They're going to be letting us kind of have the run of the place as long as we can keep it within reason and not making trouble for them. We are working on the parking situation because it is only Valet there (which costs $6.50/night), but until I figure something out with the management, plan on parking across the street for free in the parking structure at Palace Station.
To Reserve A Room:
- Call The Artisan Reservation Department @ (702) 214-4000.
- In order to get the group rate, make sure to identify yourself as part of the Pure Euro group.
- You are reserving a room for Friday, June 22nd and Saturday, June 23rd.
- The rooms will be handed out on a first-come-first-served basis, so the earlier you get there, the better the chance of you being able to get a room close to your friends... I have been talking to the hotel and we're doing everything we can to get us in the same area, but there are NO GUARANTEES...
- Please be sure to discuss cancellation policy with The Artisan if you have any further questions.
Caravans:
PLEASE be careful! Be responsible and make intelligent decisions. Everyone should have their room situations already figured out, so there is no hurry... Your room will be there waiting for you.
Friday Night Plans:
There are none... People will be arriving throughout the day, so to try to plan something would just be nuts. If you'd like to hang around the pool, I'd like to suggest heading over to The Artisan. For the directions from Imperial Palace to The Artisan, Click Here
Saturday, June 23:
Event: Mount Charleston Drive and BBQ @ Black Sheep
Sponsored By: Black Sheep Performance
The first "official" event of the weekend will be our group drive up Mount Charleston. The scenery is amazing and the weather will be nice and cool considering what the temperature will be in Vegas...
When: Meet 1:00pm, please show up no later than 1:30.
Where: Black Sheep Performance
Address: 4695 West Nevso Drive, Las Vegas
Map: Click Here For Yahoo! Maps
From the shop, we will head on to the 15 to the 95 and head out to the mountain. We will cruise up to the top and find an area to all hang out. Word on the street is that it can be 20+ degrees cooler up on the mountain, so we will hang out up there and do some photoshooting and enjoy the weather. Please make sure to eat lunch before you show up to the shop, but we will be BBQing for dinner once we get back... We're expecting to get back to the shop around 5:00pm. We will return to some music, shade, and BBQ. I'm really trying to get EVERYTHING for free, but at least the burgers/dogs will be...
From there, I'm working to compile a list of local coin-op self-car washes so we can get our cars ready for Sundays festivities... Just keep your ears open at Black Sheep for what people are doing for the night... Those under 21 that aren't interested in simply partying and walking around the strip, Game Works can be a lot of fun... I think you can get an hours worth of unlimited game-play for something like $20, but don't quote me.
