is it possible to control the radio/cd player from the steering wheel. it wont have buttons on the steering wheel cos its only an s model. but maybe somewhere near the windscreen washer leaver or indicator?

You need to have the buttons on the wheel to control the stereo.

if you don't have the buttons on the steering wheel you can only control your radio/cd player by the buttons of your radio/cd player and nothing else

There are some aftermarket radio/cd players that have remote controls that you can hang on your steering wheel or stick it somewhere in the surroundings of your steering wheel. But the original VW radio/cd players don't have those remote controls sadly enough
