Hi all

Has anyone gone down the path of powerchip for their ECU upgrade? The figures appear impressive for the DSG:

Power PowerchipGold 98 183 kW
Torque PowerchipGold 98 350 Nm

One guy has left a testomonial:

Car: Volkswagen Golf GTi 2.0
Chip purchased: January, 2006
Testimonial added: 5/9/2006
Customer comments: Very pleased,a dramatic increase of power and torque right through the range, quicker response to throttle input. Constant smooth increase in speed through the gears.Amazing amount of torque at low revs.

Does "Michael D of Werribee" post on these forums? Would love to get more feedback on this ECU upgrade.

Thanks
Simon

I think with alot of other more recognised chip brands which specialise on VW/Audis it'd be safer to go with one of them. Powerchip from what I understand tries to cater for all makes and models of cars? I think the amount of R&D they put into their chips can't be more than those who specialise in our cars.

Whats the price on one of those Powerchips anyway? Is there much of a difference between it and APR/GIAC/REVO etc. price-wise?

I think G-Chips is the one that Lucas owns??? AFAIK he is the offical GIAC contact for Australia.

IMO the best advice when considering ECU tuning for a VW is to go to the guy who will give you the best service. You can probably throw a blanket over any of the products in terms of hp figures etc. Personally, I certainly wouldn't be choosing GIAC/APR/Oettinger/whatever based solely on a few "claimed" figures listed on a website.
