Exclamation Looking for a good TINT place in the L.A. County!

Hi all, I wanted to get a tint this weekend since I have more time because of Thanksgiving and all... and I wanted to know if you guys who are around the Los Angeles County (or anywhere near the 57, 60, 10, 5, 605 freeways) know of any good places for a tint? Meaning... good service, lifetime warranty, and around $80-100 or something as reasonable as that? I know of Whittier Tint Shop, California Tint (Rosemead), and Tint Zone (Rowland Heights) but I'm not too sure. I wanted your guys' insight. And what kind of tint do you guys think is good for an 07 BMP? I was thinking something like 15-20% rear, 30-35% front? Your help is much appreciated! Thanks a lot.

Thanks, but what about considering legal reasons? I don't get it, I see a lot of people that tint their front windows around L.A. with about 15-20% ... I just don't want to get pulled over for a fix it or anything.

Very true, i live in Cali too. The cops are asses, but, very rarely do the cops look for illegal tints where i live at least. thats why when i see a cop, ill just roll down my windows. You will be safe going 30% all around. thats pretty much what everyone does in cali the cops wont notice the difference if u go 30%

Go to Cal Tint! They are the best. It might run you somewhere closer to 120-140 though depending on the tint.

Seriously? I heard bad things about California Tint. I used to always pass by it and I even bought some bulbs and stuff for a previous car. I heard that they would jot down some customers' information, and sabotage their cars or something. I'll look into it though... since you guys recommend it. I trust you guys.

I know it's not LA county but try TintPros near Huntington Beach. Tell Lonnie, the owner, that Mike and Julie from Boeing recommended you. But you get what you pay for and this place is not going to be cheap.

25% or 30%? I think 20 might be a little too risky in the L.A. area =/... for me at least.

i used 50% on the front, 20 rear, and i've never had an issue. cops have seen my car too, and i've gotten ticketed for something else. never a mention regarding the tint. i have had several previous cars with 50% in the front and no problems either. but if you get a real a-hole cop, then you're SOL.

Got my tint today at California Tint. I recognized the manager there from about 3 years ago when I used to go there with my friends to buy parts and what not. He is a good guy. I ended up getting 35% front, and 17% rear which looks sexy, and is perfect for me. I will take pics tomorrow. Although, I was a little paranoid while driving back home since it was my first tint and all... I got used to it after a while seeing all these cars having more or less the same tint, if not darker than mine... even the older adults. Thanks for all the help guys, preciate it.

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN CALIFORNIA?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In California, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

California Tint Law Enacted: 1999

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In California, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

Nope, no bubbling issues. ALTHOUGH, I was kind of sad about the fact that they scratched my NEW car... minor scratches in the front and in the trunk. But eh, I got over it. Thank God they don't stand out. My best friend got their shit scratched up too at this other place and warned me about it... I guess everyone's car gets scratched in the process.

I guess it depends on the Police Departments in different counties or areas. If you see a lot of cars with tints (esp the front windows), then it won't hurt to do 35-50% in the front. In my area (Los Angeles County), I'd say 6/10 cars have their front windows tinted, and some even darker than mine. So... 35%+ would be the safest bet. If you're scared about your area, then do 50% or so. Cops can't tell the difference.
