So when I go to the CD function of my MFD2 navigation screen there is a button under CD6 for "AUX" but I cannot find the input. The six disc changer is in the console so nothing there, and there is no AUX on the roof of the glove box...

Can anyone help me? Where is the input? Or what do I need to get an AUX input? I'd prefer not to lose my XM or CD-Changer. I tried searching and its mostly people wanting text and folders to display on the screen. All I want is to play my IPOD through the stereo.

Thanks

The Aux input was not standard on the 2006 model year, you got a glove box light (where the aux input is found on later model years) and CD changer. The MFD2 DVD supports both an aux and an external CD changer without losing sat radio. You can still add the aux if you would like, it is an inexpensive mod (parts are about $30). VW OEM part number: 000-051-444-M. You can mount it somewhere else than the glove box, one of the dead buttons in the center console would be a good choice. You have to pull the nav to connect the aux cable.

Later years the MFD2 DVD got an iPod dock instead of the CD changer. I see you don't want to lose the CD changer, but if it wasn't important to you, you can swap the CD changer for the iPod dock, five minute plug and play swap. (and no need to pull the nav).

If I had to let one go it would be the SAT radio vs the CD Changer. How well do the Dension (like Gateway 300) and Dice products work with an Ipod Touch (1st Gen) and the MFD2 Nav system?

Hi. I'm new to the forum. I just bought an '06 MkV GTI with the Nav and 6 CD changer. I would much prefer the iPod docking station in its place. Would anyone here know what would the part number(s) for the iPod dock (and/or any peripheral parts) be? Thanks in advance for your time.

Assuming you have a functioning CD changer in the armrest, then no additional parts needed - simple plug and play swap (Mk IV radio removal tools will pop out the CD changer easily and quickly).

I bought mine from TM Tuning, although it is available from many sources.
Check the VW Vortex classifieds - after I bought mine I saw the iPod dock there selling for less than half of the cost of a new one. :banghead:
I see at least one there right now for $150 ($400+ new)
(BTW The adaptors referenced are the shims for adapting various models of iPod)
