D2 Racing Coilover Review.

Genome

Hippest Teacher. Ever.
Well, as some of you know, I've had the opportunity to run D2 Racing Coils on my car. I've had them on for about 2 weeks now and I feel like its time to put in my .02$ about the product and how I feel about them.

D2 is a company that is somewhat of a new player when it comes to European cars, just starting to branch out into the VW/Audi world. This set of coils look and feel amazing. Their quality. They are solid, beefy, well put together. I am by all means, no professional when it comes to coilovers, I know the basics, and I've ridden in a few different set-ups. I may get terms wrong, or just flat out have crappy explanations, but I'll try my best.

Install
Super easy. Took about an hour and a half with all the necessary tools. Impact gun, sockets, etc. No hardware was needed to be swapped from the front from the OEM to the D2. In the rear, only the rear hat where the shock bolts into was needed. This was done at my friend's shop over at VIPStatus USA. We also did a D2 install on xminusx's car, and that took about 3 hours (thanks to Hellafast and Dublpar).

Driveablilty
The coils are 32 way dampening adjustable. There has been some speculation and talk over on the JDM side of the tuner community that the springs are too stiff. In my findings, I know that they are reasonably stiff, but it has the perfect blend for a sporty street suspension. They do well to get rid of humps and bumps when on the freeway and streets. Currently, I have the car on full stiff, which is exactly what it sounds like, damn stiff. I have gone to about 9 clicks from stiff, and it was perfect for me. (however, I lowered the car very low, and I need the stiffness).

How low can you go?
The D2s can go low. VERY low. I don't have an approx. measure, but you can tell from the pics below how low I am:

Sorry about the dirty car.

The back is all the way down, and there are about 6 threads left in the front. If you wanted to go lower in the back, it would just require you to take out 2 locking collars, which will get you about another .5 inch. Tires are 225/35/19s. I would go lower, but 19s don't give you that much freedom. Its plently low for me though.

Overall
Their great coils, for a a great price. I can't sit here and tell you that their awesome, and I can't prove anything. All I can do is give you my impression of them. If anyone is here around SoCal, I will be more than willing to give you a ride in my car. I will be all the local shows this year, including wustefest. Bang for the buck, these are the best way to go, in my opinion. www.d2racing.com is the website, go ahead and check them out!

If anyone has questions, shoot me a PM or post up, and I'll do my best to answer them.

so far so good! No squeaks, no clunks, nothing. They handle great! I've been slammed on 16's, low on 19s, and everything has held up with no problems what so ever. The driveability and ride quality is superb!

Got them through VMR, price range is about $850.00-900.00
did this come with brackets for the ABS wire?

Looks great :)
no brackets, but as DannGSR stated, their not attached at the shock!

maybe I'm thinking of the MKIV platform and just assumed that all cars are like that

If anyone knows what i'm talking about, help me out here

On the MKIV, there are wires that attach the the front struts (bracket) to keep them from hitting the wheels and getting torn out. I thought these were the brake lines. Are they different then the MKV? Ussualy if they don't come with the brackets, you gota use zip ties to attach them to the strut for security
