I was checking a fuse and I think that I pulled the airbag fuse and turned on the airbag fault light. All the other fault lights just went out with a drive but the airbag one is still on. The fuse looks fine. How do I get the fault to go away?

Check fault w/ vag com, clear fault w/ vag com.

Or go ghetto and disconnect the battery for a few minutes. When its reconnected & key is turned on it will re-check air bag system.

thought maybe there was a sequence with the key to get it to re read the faults..... So it won't clear itself? Don't have a vag-com

Disconnect the battery and touch the positive and negative leads together, not the battery terminals, the cables. This is from a VW tech I know. Same light came on in my buddy's R32 and this is what he told me to have him do.

Sounds like it could be a clock spring/rotary coupler what ever you want to call it.

Do the radio controls work? The DSG shift paddles? Shortly after my airbag light came on for no reason all the controls on the steering wheel ceased to work. Simple dealer warranty fix but they may have to order the part as they have had quite a few fail.

everything else works. Like an ass I left the car on when I was looking for the blown fuse so every warning and fault light was on when I got done. My dash looked like an Xmas tree but they all went out or reset themselves save the airbag light. No fuses are blown and everything works

I'v got the same light on. Its started after i had my brother heavy ass laptop on my passenger seat. It went off for a couple days. and then it came back on a couple days ago. I tried disconnecting the battery but that didn't do anything. I didn't touch the two battery cables together though. Guess i should check my fuses too.

Thats called a capacitive discharge, it works for a lot of mysterious issues.

Simply disconnecting the battery will clear this one & cause the system to recheck.
If the light comes back, have the car scanned to see wtf is going on.

Has anyone done this successfully cause it didn't work for me?
I got the airbag light from installing an aux input adapter (turned ignition on when center passenger airbag light was not plugged up).
Took battery loose and let set for 5 minutes, no fix.
Took battery loose and touched battery cables together for a few seconds then let sit for 5 minutes, still have light......
Just wondering if anybody had this method work first hand?

Queens. I didn't know it was this simple. I can do this with no problem. However, I don't have vag com to clear the code. Should I solder the wires and shrink wrap over the connection. So it's the yellow plug unpluging and not making a connection because it can't stay pluged in when the seat is moved.

As a side note. My fogs are quite dim after putting some bright bulbs in for replacement. Can the briteness be turned up using vag com or just turned down.

thank you

Never solder airbag circuits.
If the car is under warranty, the dealer will fix it per tsb, for free.
(i didnt read everything so sorry if i missed the warranty info)

Its either n199 (driver side) or n200 (pass side), need to get the code to find out what one. Its a bad connection in the plug, usually, but some turn out to be another connector in the floor or even the side airbag itself.
