If the mods want to make it a sticky or add it to the FAQ, I'm sure it would help out some people.

Couple points:

Everything you see below is a fairly conservative setup... But with that said, if you have four people and luggage in the car, don't come crying back to here when it rubs.

The tire sizes I have highlighted in yellow are fitments that will rub more often, mainly because there is no such thing as a 205/35R19 tire, which is what would be ideal.

If your offset isn't listed (34 or less) it's because it's not recommended (it was a stretch to even do 35 - 39), not because it won't "work". I haven't included any staggered setups for the same reason... Plus there are just too many variables.

great chart, but what about us lowly guys running stock 16s? Can I fit 225/55s on it stock suspension, or 245/50s?

a 245/50 would work depending on a lot of things. You wouuld need wheels with a good offset et38-42 aprox and you might need camber plates upfront. You might be fine if you roll the fenders but IIRC the major issue is strut clearance.

225/55/16 should be fine. Isn't that factory tiresize?

205/55-16 is factory. I don't want to change wheels, I just like the way the larger tires plant he vehicle on the road. I don't know what rolling fenders is and don't care to add camber plates, just want to know the largest tires I can fit on the stock 16s. How about 205/60?

Hi guys,
Please need some HELP! I have a MkV GTI with 17" denvers, stock ride hieght.
I have a mate with a B7 A4 and I want his rims! They are 245/35/19 and I think a ET35 offset.
Will these fit on my GTI or is 245 too wide with that offset?
Any help is appreciated...

Anyone know if 19 x 245/35's are to wide for a GTI?

do you have a picture of the whee/tire as it is now? my uneducated guess is that a 245 will be fairly square on an 8.5" wide wheel, but a 19" wheel on a stock height gti will make it look like a wagon

if you are very adamant about getting his setup, it may be worth the trip to test fit first and save yourself the grief later.

Newer to this forum and am having fun learning about new things. Am looking for wheels on tirerack right now and these are what we like.

Looking at ASA AR9 wheels that are 19x 8.5 +45 with 225/35/R19. Any danger of rubbing with 5 ppl in the car?
Also bolt pattern is 5-112......will this fit alright.
Any thoughts on good winter/all weather tires are also welcome. Thanks.

Sorry to bother anyone here just a quick question.
Found some Merc 17x8 alloys 5x112, tyres on there at the moment are 205's just wanted to ask what the ET boundaries for these wheels to fit a golf mk5 would be?

If the et is lower does that mean they will stick out?
Seller believes they are et 35 - hasn't checked though!
Much appreciated.

no you'll be okay. The only thing is that if you're gonna go with a 215/35, make sure you go LOW. Its a small tire, and if you're not low, the sidewall is gonna make your gap look huge and it won't look too great. If not a 215/35, a 215/40 would be perfect.

18x8 et 45 with a 215/40 tire. FK's all the way down in rear with everything still in. No helper springs in the front. 10-12 threads left. Hope this helps. Oh and front fenders are rolled.

Looking at a set of 18x9 rear and 18x8 fronts ET35 with 215/40 tyres, my car is sitting at the top of the tyre all round, front arches will be rolled. Anyone with a similar setup that could fire up a pic so I can get an idea what they'll look like?

Hey guys quick question, if the offset gets lower does that make the wheel be more flush with the outside of the car? looking to get 17x8 tsw et 45 and probably some spacers.

Yes, and i would say 5-8mm spacers in the back and 5mm in the front and maybe 215/45 if you´re a bit lowered.
