Whatcha think of the covers?

It wasn't an exact color match, but fairly close. I have the sun visor and used the excess to cover the OEM Amber side bumper lights. Looks more sleek like the European ones.

Not bad, but I think the stock ones just complement it well.

Luckely for me I live in Belgium (Europe) and our GTI's don't have those redicilous side blinkers on the bumpers. Cause if my GTI would have them I would get rid of the side blinkers and let the body shop fill those holes up and repaint the bumper

Yeah, but the problem with that... at least in the US is that every year (or 2 in some States) you have to get an inspection. So unless you know someone that can pass it without those stupid lights, they will stay on.

I wish they were incorporated into the head and tail lights.

Well done with the indicators...you can barely notice them.

What the hell are you talking about? Are you 15? We've never had to have inspections on the car, only smog. Oh... well this is California. Utah is probably different.

Also, those lights down there on the side of the bumper don't do anything except stare you in the face .

I'd take that route if my mkv was black magic.. but it's tornado red. So, I think I'm going to go with the threadstarter's method.

Exactly. Clear would look okay, but almost looks rice on the car, except white, and smoke is awesome on the grey and black, not red or white.

Also, some other things that people are doing is PAINTING the lens the SAME color as the body. that way, it's the PERFECT match.

if I get pulled over and asked about a part I have on my car that is for off road use only. I just say "it was there when I bought it".

When I had my civic at one point I had the mirrors with the LEDs in them. A cop said to me once, "Nice lights in the mirrors....how did you do that?" He was trying to give me a ticket. I simply stated...."came that way". I let him think that I was implying the car came that way. That way I was not technically lying.

I actually like the little orange sidelights, but I think that I'm in a definite minority. I'm trying to figure out a cheap yet nice way of getting 'em working on mine, short of buying a US-spec bumper, importing it, and respraying it. I like them lights, but not that much.

I've got an 09 GTI in grey. I hate the orange reflectors & lights.

I'm thinking of the following options:
- smoked
- painted
- euro-spec bumper

Has anyone done that last one? I realize it would be the most expensive, but it would also look the best. Any good sources for a euro-spec bumper in the US?
