I have a H&K USP .40 S&W that I bought when it pretty much first came out.

This was before the 10 round mag law in CA, so I legally can have the 13 round mags it came with.

Other than that, I have Finnish made Mosin-Nagant battle rifle that my late grandfather used to kill many Russians in the Winter War. The 7.62x54R rounds will turn your shoulder to butter after a day of shooting that thing.

With iron sights, I can hit a man sized steel road plate pretty much every time at 500yds. Pretty good accuracy for an almost 70 year old rifle.

I like WWII weapons, and would like to add mil-spec M1911A1 and Garand replicas to my collection.

A shotgun would be a nice addition too. I used to have Franchi SPAS-12, but it was highly illegal here, and I got rid of it. Something semi-auto and legal would be nice.

Never really cared for the AR-15/M-16. I much prefer H&Ks offerings. Not that I can own any of them here (yet).

Thanks guys. It's a nice solid carbine. I like the AR-15 because it is so customizable. The only thing that I don't like is the "Boing" noise from the Buffer Spring. Not a real big deal, but it kind of sucks amplified through my Peltor Tactical's....boooooing.

i really need to start researching some ranges around here, i've always had a thing for shooting but i've never tried it.

as for defense, these are always within hands reach when driving...

i also practice BJJ & krav maga, so that helps

Nice to see a lot of people on here are pro-2nd amendment. Here is my collection:

First gun (Glock G17, 9mm):

The AR-15 I built myself (bought assembled upper, put together the lower). EOTech sight.

I just got my first .45 a few months ago. Springfield 1911 with night sights:

I also have a license to carry, but I don't carry right now. I mainly have it so I don't have to unload my magazines when going to the range. Less hassle if I were to ever get pulled over. I also think having a license to carry is a good way of showing your support of the second amendment.

I hear that, but NJ would never allow it unless you have a good ass reason, like being a Cop

florida is definitely the place to be if you're a gun owner.

some pretty loose laws when it comes to both hand guns and self defense.

I didn't think the AR had a selector switch like the M4. Is that just to switch from safe to fire?

I plan on getting a Glock 27 and a license. Figured it would be small enough for the wife to use at the range.

Right it's a AR....no select fire.

Before you buy a G27, check out the Kahr Arms K40.

If I were you, I would go to a range where you can rent guns and try out a few before you buy one. However, I would look first at guns from SIG and Glock. The Springfield XD series are also nice from what I've heard.
