What's this? I read on the VWVortex forum that the back seat back doesn't fold down???? Please tell me it isn't so!! What about the 5 door? I have to have a fold down back seat as I may be playing drums again and I don't want my wife driving my car....(She has a Mazda6 wagon).

They fold down, maybe not perfectly flat, but they do fold down. I had to check that out at the dealership when I was looking at GTIs the other day.

My g/f wouldn't approve if they back didn't have enough space to lay down....

I checked the seats twice. They fold down pretty good. However, unlike the mkIV which when you fold them, the back becomes like a cargo space, there is still more than enough room.

Oh well, they have never had headaches, nor have they been tired, and come to think of it, there has never been one who had a week blocked off as maintenance down time.

My fiance' likes to sleep when i drive, she also asked if the seat leaned back to a nice position. But it will be hard to sleep with all that TORQUE!!

when you put the back seats down, there is alot of space.

they come down with just the armrest hole in the middle for skis or whatever, just the 1/3 or 2/3 or all .

i noticed when i put my golf clubs in the back, you can fold all of them down but one little bar reamins in place. so you have a big opening with one little bar, maybe 1 1/2 inches to 2 inches wide.

I know the back seats folds down(forwards) but does it fold down the other way as well? Thanks
