Kumho tires Suck!!

I have KUmho escta SPT's for 5,000miles and they give me no more traction anymore . I Spin my Tires all the way up until 3rd Gear!!!! If your running Stage 2 these tires are horrible no traction!!!!

the Ecsta series isn't great for traction no doubt.

although, they are good for tread wear.

I have the Ecsta ASX's and I'm about to hit 30k (the tires, not the car) and the tires are doing okay (although they are almost completely bald).

oh yeah I forget to add that if you want to avoid wheel spin/torque steer then you should work on throttle control.

Kuhmo is designed to be a CHEAP and DURABLE tire for low profile use.. if you want something sticky get ready to pay $200+ each tire and replace them each season...

And as said before, did you lower your car without an allignment, you can kill wheels in like 10,000 miles of less if not...

I heard you don't have to align the tires in the GTI due to type of power steering it has... from a VERY credible source too.

whatever the credible source was, I would still get an alignment regardless.

I bought some 225/40/18 General Exclaims for autocross, they sure do stick and don't cost 200+ a tire. If you want something that will grip, I'd go with Yokohoma S.Drives.

SPT are actually class leaders in traction and as you can see below fair better than well against competitors:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...ay.jsp?ttid=97

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...lay.jsp?ttid=4

look at the "test result charts" and you will see they run circles around the General tires in lateral G's and outperform the Yok S. Drives as well.

your problem is you bought a budget ultra high performance tire expecting max or extreme peformance tire peformance. Hell there is NO tire a chipped 2.0T wont spin. I spun max performance contisport 2's, brigdestone RE050's and the SPT's too ( I bought em because I will sacrafice a little performance for twice the intervals between tire changes).

what were those 1rst kumho street tires that came out years ago before the MX that everybody had because they were cheap? those DID suck but kumho has come a long way in street tires starting with the MX to present (always made decent track tires).

Agree here. But you cant say all kuhmos suck. Every tire brand makes cheap crap tires and higher end performance tires. For example the kuhmo mx's are probably alot better then the tires you currently have.

No street tire is going to give you good straight line traction.

I got stuck in a snow storm with my Kumho MX'S and they kept me alive! lol
I also have the general exaclaims and they seem like a quality tire for the price.

the MX, v700, and v710 beg to differ. Most of Kumho's tires are ecsta and they make some very sticky ones.
