Neuspeed intake installation questions
Just got and installed my Neuspeed p-flo intake last night. I have several questions about the intake:
1) When I removed the factory turbo intake hose from the turbo, a rubber seal was left on the turbo inlet. I tried to stuff the neuspeed silicone hose over it, but it didn't want to fit. So I removed the rubber seal and assumed it was part of the factory intake hose. By fitting just the silicone hose over the turbo inlet, the fit was perfect. However, it just doesn't seem like it can withstand all the heat, is it made to do this, or was I supposed to use the factory rubber seal? 2) Although the intake is mounted by the silicone hose and the cylinder head, my intake wiggles slightly, is this normal? Tightening the 2 clamps on the silicone hose was hard due to limited space, so I am not sure if I tightened the clamps enough. When I try to pull the intake out, its impossible, so I do not know if this slight wiggle is normal. I'm just paranoid that one day while driving, the intake tube will disconnect from the silicone hose, leaving the turbo inlet open to sucking in debris. When I started the car, I noticed that there isn't the usual sound of more air being sucked into the filter, like on previous intakes I've installed. I'm not sure if this means there's air leaking somewhere, esp. where the silicone hose clamp rings are. I'm not getting any MAF errors or CELs. I know the best way to test my install is to do a test drive and try rev'ving the engine, but I finished the install late last night, and I wanted to get some input before I risk any damage. Thanks guys! |

1) Yes you were supposed to remove the rubber piece that is sitting around the inlet to the turbo. You are supposed to use the silicone hose that came in the box with your other stuff. One side is smaller than the other, the smaller end goes on the turbo. The hose clamps around the silicone hose should be tight, use a socket wrench.

The wiggle is what keeps it from shaking itself to death. :)

I was wondering the same thing at first but figured it was just part of the stock intake hose. but be assured it's the correct way(the way you did it).
And yes it is supposed to wiggle a bit, not too much.. but enough. ENJOY! |

the best part is that its not overly loud. If I turn up my radio just a few notches, I can't hear the pssssh sound anymore. However, when I roll into a quiet neighborhood, under a bridge, or go inside a covered parking lot, its definitely loud enough for me. Not really sure why a forge spacer is needed...but my .02
