Have you tried a repair shop. I wanted to have some burn holes fixed in my Civic, and they order the cloth by the size needed.

Yeah can't seem to get it, or the guys don't seem that bothered to source it so gonna try myself. Someone must know where I can get some. I've found the original mk1 tartan, just can't find this mk5 trim! :iono:

There have been a few rare instances of people buying it direct from VW to custom cover other seats to match the interior, but it's incredibly costly, if you can even get your hands on it at all.

Dealers can't buy it for resale though. There is no VW part number for a roll of it. If you can score it, you'll be buying direct from VW Germany or through some back-door channels.

I remember reading figures like $900 but I don't recall exactly how much fabric that was for. It wasn't much though.

Good luck.

I still can't believe this fabric is so crazy-valuable. What are dealers doing for ripped seats and such? Do you have to just buy a whole new seat? Thats just absurd.:iono:

Its actually not that crazy when you think about it. If they happen to replace a ripped seat under warenty they have to send the ripped seat back to VW. VW then re covers the seat (and any other worn parts) and puts it in a new car. Thus VW has only spent the money to recover the seat and the labor to replace a seat which is probably less than the labor to recover a seat.

If there is an issue with an existing seat they don't replace the entire seat. They just replace the fabric cover.

The cover itself is a separate part and carries an OE VW part number. There is a lower cover (ass part), upper cover (back part), and a headrest cover.

Keep up the search.

If you guys can find a source for the fabric, that's great, but those who have done so before, usually give up empty handed after a while. :iono:

they get a new cover.my drivers seat had a tear and they replaced the upper seat cover. i tried to get the cover back even the service manager tried for me but VWoA needed it back for quality control or some BS then they were gonna shred it. the service manager said they're usually done with the stuff after 3 months and it's been 3 months just recently and the SM said he'll try to have them mail it back to me but i havent gotten anything yet:frown:

yeah, i remeber reading it was hundreds or something crazy per yard.

Though this doesn't help the search much, I've seen someone use the OEM fabric to reupholster some Porsche race seats to use in their car, and I know I saved them somewhere, but I can't find them. :frown:

I'll keep looking.

Ok this isn't looking hopeful, better get some samples of other fabrics, or even opt for that mk1 cloth? Such a shame so wanted that interlagos cloth.

Cheers Guys
