Mk7 GTD coming to America
http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...o-america.html
182 hp 280 lb-ft torque 2.0 litre TDI 67 MPG with 6 speed manual, or 60 MPG with DSG All the handling performance of the GTI, but the fuel efficiency of the TDI models. This will be a popular car!

From AutoMedia.com : The official Volkswagen USA Twitter page (@VW) this morning responded to a fan’s question by posting: “We have no plans to bring the GTD to the US at this time.” Then we received a message that clears things up a bit.
“Our official position is that we are investigating bringing the car to the U.S., but there is no decision,” Volkswagen USA Product and Technology Manager Mark Gillies said in an e-mail to autoMedia. Hope they get the okay. |

GTD would be sweet, but based on the current TDI pricing I'm guessing the price would push close to $30k. Kind of insane.

It's looking more and more likely that the GTD will be coming to 'Merica

Why is it insane? The cars are 40K across the pond and thats where they are made.

I think Autoblog has it right. They are estimating $27k. I think placing this between the GTI and the Golf R is where it will end up. I'm hoping my GTI will last long enough for me to pick up a GTD when they arrive. I don't push my GTI to anywhere near the limits but I enjoy the comfort it affords and the ability to get moving when I need to. I already drive to maximize fuel economy. The GTD will only help my cause even more. I'm pretty excited it about it making it over here.

Not a GTD, but I saw the Mk7 Golf TDI last week.
