Audi TT strut mounts fit GTI

Their rubber is about 30 % stiffer in both directions thus giving slightly better steering
precision and some minor advantages on cornering. Remember strut mounts are made
from rubber with a steel inlay.

These are stock Golf/GTI strut mounts (and bearings):

TT mounts look almost the same but have two teeth instead of one. The bearings
remain the same (but I'd always get new SKF ones when changing suspension).

I guess they also better withstand the increased forces of uprated suspensions
with deforming giving the bearings a more stable platform and longer life.

I had them fitted 7 months ago and the difference in feel has been clearly noticable.

I didn't measure them, but when I held both in my hands I didn't see
any geometrical difference besides the 2nd tooth.

ps:
It's almost the same as on the old Mk.IV, where you could run the upper
strut mount of the Seat Cupra R on a Golf, which was also stiffer.
From what I remember some guys measured 65 instead of 50 on a durometer.
Guess it will be similar on the current platform.

If someone likes to raise rear just less than half an inch
I'd recommend this Audi TT ruber (non S-Line):

Nr 4:

1K0 512 149 B - TT S-Line/GTI/Golf/A3 etc.

8J0 512 149 - Audi TT (non S-Line) - ~ 7.5 mm thicker

Bruce,

Simmsled directed me over to this thread as I want to replace my factory shocks/struts with the Bilstein sports to go with my Driver Gear springs on my 4-door MK6 GTI.

You recommend these TT parts for the MK6 4-door GTI as well?
The rear parts you list are the mounts?

Front Audi TT Parts:
8J0 412 331 - strut mount TT/RS3/Cupra (2)
6N0 412 249 D - strut bearing or SKF VKD 35025 T (2)
N 910 216 01 - nuts (2)
N 101 277 07- bolts (6)

Rear Audi TT Parts:
no raise -> 1K0 512 149 B - TT S-Line/GTI/Golf/A3 etc. (2)
~0.5" raise -> 8J0 512 149 - Audi TT (non S-Line) - ~ 7.5 mm thicker (2)

I was looking at these ECS MK6 GTI install kits but if you and Simmsled feel the TT parts are a better option I'll go for it.

ECS Rear MK6 GTI Install Kit:

When I installed my Driver Gear springs I was given this list for GTI replacement parts.

Front MK6 GTI Parts:
6N0 412 249 C - strut bearings (2)
N 910 216 01 - nuts (2)
N 101 277 07- bolts (6)

Rear MK6 GTI Parts:
N 101 064 02 - nuts (2)
N 106 107 02 - bolts (2)

Hyde, the ECS kits are really nice. ECS also sell OE TT mounts.
You just need to order a TT install kit or ask them to put a TT mount into your parcel.

You only need the rear spring rubber if you suffer from reverse rake. Don't care about
- it's not too hard to fit it later if necessary.
I'd also just order the front install kit only. I never had failing rear damper mounts.
These are much easier to replace later than failing front bearings and mounts as well.
More important: fasten the lower damper bolt when the car is down on it's wheels.

G
.... a bit stiffer than the TT mounts, ....

Are they?

Keeping in mind the stock mount are more complex than they look (different stiffnesses
longitudinal and transverse) I'd still prefer the OE Audi TT ones.

034 even stiffer, you don't want a girlie man mount! I talked to 034, they said these are quite stiff. These make a big difference in response without going to pillow ball mounts and all the rattling.

I didn't want to hi-jack this thread and wanted to let everyone know I referenced the information discussed here in a new suspension list I created:
