My Pedalbox experience in the .:R32 (WOW)

Prologue
Coming from a STi, I was very disappointed with the throttle response in the R32, there was a lot of lag, lag I could live with. So there began my quest for ways to eliminate throttle lag and improve input response. I have tried VF mounts, Exhaust, intake, UM combo chip, lighter wheels, lighter brakes. And although all of those made a rather nice difference (especially the Chip & VF mounts), I was still missing my STi's throttle input. Last year at Sema, I had talked to a german company Called DTE Systems, they had come out with a product called the PedalBox.

The idea
So, a few weeks ago I stumbled on all the business cards I had gathered at the show the previous year while packing my luggage for a business trip, and on my flight to Orlando, I did some research on that product. Eureka I thought, it looked exactly like what I was missing! So I said **** it, I'll try it. 9 days later, a package came to my door, opened it up with excitement. After a 5 minute install, I finally was able to test the pedal box!

The FIX

Holy ****, that was my first thought. This device CHANGED my car, throttle is even more responsive than in my STi, input is sharp, there is no lag whatsoever! Sport+3 is brutal, almost too much for the street. This device somehow makes the DSG feel like a proper transmission, there is much less lag when driving from a stop. This makes the car feel so responsive, you can now gauge exactly how much throttle to apply at any given time. Where this also gets really fun, is in the ECO mode, it dullens the throttle response for more economical driving, but seriously I am so hooked on sport+ that I haven't really saved any gas ever since I've gotten this device.

I mean, I LOVE this product, it did exactly what I was looking for, removed all the throttle input lag, sharpened the input, made D mode a more aggressive "gear" and made S mode a complete animal!

Taken from TWM Performance's website:

Features:

-3rd Generation Technology;
-Increased, precise, throttle response, more power, faster!;

Is it a coincidence that you have an r and live in montreal, and the last car pictured is an r from montreal racing?

Yea what is this? After watching the video I'm still not sure. Have a demonstration video of you actually using it while driving?

Yeah. That is what it sounds like it is. I ran it past this guy that I work with since we were just talking about this product the other day before this thread was even posted.

He has a Mercedes E63 and was thinking on trying it out. There is a place out here that will let you try it for a 3 day trial with no obligation to buy. I think he said that they run about $300 a piece or something like that. If he or I try it out, I will give an honest opinion. :cool:

The original post is way too professional looks to be someone really trying to sell a progduct. Just too much information. :fighting0030:

it's basically a resistor in a box... that's all these things are. they sell a 10 cent box for $100+

Actually, I'm not trying to sell you guys the product, but I'll let you know exactly what it does. See, in theory both the SprintBooster & the pedalbox look to be rather similar. See, what sold me on the pedalbox, is not the fact is boosts your pedal signa like the sprintbooster, it's the fact that you can really fine-tune your car's throttle response.

From TWM testing, they have found that most car, have a very progressive, non-linear throttle curve, voluntarily designed by the manufacturer to "improve" fuel efficiency. Now that most current vehicles are forced induction, the manufacturers are doing the opposite, boosting the curve signal to make turbo lag less visible, again resulting in a very non linear throttle curve.

Where the Pedalbox becomes interesting, is when you customize it either via the 18 pre-loaded settings pre-tuned by DTE Systems for your specific vehicle, or the optional USB interface tuning solution to get the perfect, most linear and precise throttle input curve. Common misconception is that OEM throttle input curve is linear, it isn't. The PedalBox is only a great tool to help make the car's throttle input closer to perfection.

OEM throttle response is far from linear, sport mode actually lowers the sensitivity, lowers throttle hang and delay. With the PedalBox module, you could very easily set a custom map to get the most linear throttle response possible and still have a very sporty feel. Throttle hang, UP & Down delay would also be greatly reduced. Your car's Sport button would still work and you would still get a sportier curve when you activate that mode as well.

Here is a video they made when they were doing some R&D stuff on my car.

damn, i'm wrong again... it's a fancy box with a handful of resistors and a few LEDs.

instead of spending all the money on this to fine tune your pedal response, go drive around a bit and fine tune your foot response. then spend the money on mods... or blow and strippers... either one is good.
