Play in DSG transmission mount

Hi,

I've been working upgrading/replacing various bits of my car (05 Golf mk5, GT TDI 2.0 DSG) to bring back some of that new car feel.

I decided to check the motor mounts, the left side upper mount to me looks to have too much play, so done a video with my phone...

There looks to be a lot of back and forth movement when i wiggle it about with my hand....its not completely loose but the video shows just how much i can move it with one hand.

Does anyone think this is excessive play and the mount needs replacing?....i'm not entirely sure if its designed to have this much movement on a stock mount - personally i think its completely worn out.

I have the WRD insert, its has been holding up to the abuse I put it through, but after installing a few BSH mounts in other cars, I can say the inserts aren't as stiff as the mounts sold by BSH and VF.

Thanks for all the replies.

I think i will replace it - i am getting some engine shake at idle and also occasional slight delays in shifting and the odd 3rd to 2nd clunk.

Its got 80k miles on it...with some, shall we say, spirited driving! :biggrin:

If I were you, I'd pick up the BFI tranny insert. It wont break your wallet (only $80 I believe) and makes a massive difference.

HPA dogbone insert, BFI motor and tranny mounts. they will make your car feel like an entirely different animal..

It's the cheaper route before switching to something like VF :biggrin:

The HPA mount alone made most of the difference for me (DSG)...SOLID!
