I am putting in a RCD510 and am also getting the 9W2 module (not the wiring) that came with it.

From what I read (and there is a lot to read) the module is from a MK6 white-display vehicle so it won't work with my red-display vehicle correct? I have a non-MFD non-MFSW Rabbit, but the bluetooth module requires a connection to the CAN right? So having the RCD510 in the vehicle wont magically make this 9W2 work? I don't really care about MFSW capability or anything, I really just care about A2DP and making calls though the system on my phone. Unfortunately I don't know the exact model number of the 9W2 unit yet.

So since I am a cheap DIY person who doesn't mind playing with car electronics, I am attempting to research all the connections needed to make my own bluetooth harness.

I know I need a mic (two wires, they go to that connector to the bluetooth module, not known which pins).

The aux is easy to figure out too.

Now the problem I am having is the actual plug and harness that goes from the module to the back of the head unit.

Here is an ebay picture of the harness

JetTurbo has another one from the Stu dude too.

And this image from the stu dude's website:

I want to make this cable myself since it's not that many wires.
From what I can gather:
Needs a wire for:
High CAN (I know where this is on the quad lock plug, but not which pin on the bluetooth module plug)
Low CAN (same as above)
Red Power (same as above)
Black Ground (same as above)
****Updated with exact pin info (On the QUADLOCK)****
CAN Hi - Pin 9 (Orange/Purple)
CAN Lo - Pin 10 (Orange/Brown)
Ground - Pin 12 (Brown)
12v Positive Supply - Pin 16 (Red/White)
****
and then that suspicious green plug that nobody identifies what pin goes where (but I assume carries right, left, common ground, maybe something else?)

So the info I am missing:
a pinout for the plug that actually goes to the bluetooth unit (a part number for this plug would be good too)
a pinout for the green plug that goes into the back of the head unit (a part number for this plug would also be good).

Really there aren't that many wires going places at all:
Power/Ground
CAN High/Low
Two wires to the mic (on further examination of the picture, those black and white wires look like they terminate on that plug on the module, so pin placement is unknown)
and that green plug with the blue and yellow wires (unidentified).

If anybody has this information it would be greatly appreciated (If you have the harness sitting around it is really easy to use a multimeter and figure out which wire goes where! You would be helping me and I'll make a DIY for others so be a hero!) If you have the harness sitting around and want to send it to me so I can duplicate it and post my findings and I'll send it back to you, that works too :)

Thanks mucho.

If anyone can tell me what those two wires going to that green plug go to that would be very helpful (both at the module and at the quadlock, but if just one that works too).

Okay running updates apparently.
Research is telling me that any 9W2 module should work with red-display cars. 9W7 does not.

hrmmm don't mind me. Just compiling information for those curious.

Changes to enable voice control with a RNS 510.

http://vwnavi.com/volkswagen-factor...-mic-problems-after-adding-voice-control.html

The loom basically makes the following wiring link changes:

Before adding the new wiring loom extention, MIC was connected as shown below (witch is also a Kufatec Loom that I purchased some years ago)
Mic+ ------>------ BT module PIN 11
Mic- ------>------ BT module PIN 12
and other wires for CAN, TEL R+/-,TEL L+/-, etc

The new loom make the following connection changes:
Mic+ ------------------>->----- RNS510 Mic IN+ PIN7
Mic- ------------------>->----- RNS510 Mic IN- PIN1
BT module PIN 11 ------<-<----- RNS510 Mic OUT+ PIN9
BT module PIN 12 ------<-<----- RNS510 Mic OUT- PIN4

(this new Kufatec Voice Control loom has 4 wires)

On another note. I love how all this information I'm pulling from different forums is all consistent!

Oh look more information!
These might be those two mystery wires that go to that green plug. Maybe.

Re: Bluetooth 9W7/9WZ pinouts?
Telephone pin 4 Audio RF Signal Out + to be connected to pin 11 connector 3
Telephone pin 5 Audio RF Signal Out – to be connected to pin 5 connector 3

You can use 1 repair wire 000 979 010 in Telephone end and 1 repair wire 000 979 009 in Radio end.

Verification from maloosheck's website:
Connection:

Radio side green 12-pin plug:
White - pin 5, Green - pin 11.

BT side: White - pin 5, Green - pin 4.

info matches perfectly ;)

RCD 510 Rear Pinout for Connector 3 (Where the green plug goes):
Don't need to use mic inputs and outputs if I am not using voice control. Otherwise it requires more wiring.

Multi-pin connector 3, 12-pin, for telephone and microphone signals

1 – Microphone input, negative
2 – AUX output, audio, right
3 – AUX output, common signal earth
4 – Microphone output, negative
5 – Telephone audio input signal left, negative <---- Mystery Wire!
6 – Telephone audio input signal right, negative <---- Mystery Wire!
7 – Microphone input, positive
8 – AUX output, audio, left
9 – Microphone output, positive
10 – Telephone mute (mute switch for radio)
11 – Telephone audio input signal left, positive <---- Mystery Wire!
12 – Telephone audio input signal right, positive <---- Mystery Wire!

CONCLUSION: The above pictured harness from "stu" only has ONE audio channel! Meaning it was made for a 9W3 mono unit! There are FOUR wires that go from the module plug to the green plug, not two!

Note: The listed AUX INPUTS are NOT aux. Those are on connector 4

So I pretty much figured it all out by looking at like 10 different forums and compiling all the information here. If you have anything else to contribute that would be great.

The only thing I am unsure of right now is if I accounted for all the wires.
I have accounted for:
Power
Ground
CAN high
CAN low
Mic input +
Mic input -
Both Right and Left speaker channels.

The two I am unsure of are pins 15 and 16 on the 54 pin connector, or "K line" and "Mute".
I am pretty sure K-line is older CAN units and audi's so that does not apply (I pulled that info about the plug from an audi forum).
The Mute on pin 16 I am not entirely sure if I need it.
I will post more when I know more.

Ah! A part # for that green plug would be good if someone knew :) Or I'll find it.
Do I already have this plug in the back... I don't think I do.

Wow.
So apparently.
I can't read. Or see. One of the two.
The first website I've been using had this:
http://www.my-gti.com/173/volkswagen-skoda-bluetooth-pinouts
And I didn't even see it after looking at least 20x.

>.>

update: Okay it wasn't my fault. Apparently the page doesn't load on the "older posts" page 75% of the time. Maybe it's a glitch in my browser.

After getting my R32 It drove me crazy to have a Phone button in the steering wheel that did nothing so I did the Bluetooth retrofit.

Like you I'm capable of doing the connections with out buying the cable. However after pricing out all the connectors and the fact I wanted the VW microphone, it made more sense to buy the cable from that e-bay guy as the price was right.

I have the 9w2 and its awesome for phone calls. As for music streaming it sucks! The audio sounds just like the music you hear when you are placed on hold, bad 11KHz bit rate. Also I read that the 9w7 works with the newer head units and has better sound streaming quality.

Anyway good luck!
