I hit up Irwindale 1/8 mile track tonight and had an awesome time. Tons of domestic muscle but there were a group of imports(rsx, civics, integs, evo's)
Got 5 runs in. Im car 1038. Launching at about 2.5 with LC

I was surprisingly faster than all the imports there that looked daily driven. I was even faster than some v8 Mustangs and a older vette.

Fourth run I couldnt get LC activated hence the slow time.
The only problem I was having was MAD wheel hop in first gear. It was really bad. Im thinking new motor mounts and better tires might fix the problem.

The RSX-s's were running 10.xx's. Integs 10's and 11's. Evos' got down into the 8's. 3'rd run I ran a modded S2k and raped him. Im thinking he wasnt too good of a driver because I got him off the launch and kept pulling on him.

Let me know what you think of the times. I havent really seen any other GTI's 1/8 mile times so I cant really compare.
Oh my mods are APR91, Injen intake, resonator delete.
I really want a dp now and Stage 2 so I can get into the 8's

The 2-2.1 60' times are good. The torque arm insert should help a lot for wheel hop. Tires alone will help you with traction limits, but if you do spin, you'll still get the hop.

Good to see more evidence on how good launch control is.

Hmmm. that's strange... I ran an 1/8th mile about a month ago and my best time was 10.00 and I've got APR 93 stage I. I can't believe the intake and not having a resonator would shave off almost a whole second:iono:

Nevermind, mystery solved... He has DSG, I'm 6MT. Wow, I guess DSG is A LOT faster than manual even with a more conservative chip (91 octane vs. 93)... Well, I guess I'll have to run again in two weeks when I get my TBE and stage II

What were your 60' and mph at the end? I bet you the mph was the same or better but you might have gotten a bad launch.

I have owned a lot of manual trans cars, I now own a DSG and it is great except for off the line, there I would like a manual clutch, but other than that the DSG is better than I am. So I want you to know that I agree with you that the difference was the DGS, you are a brave and honest man and I hope the DSG haters don't jump all over you for your comment.

60' time was 2.39 and mph was 73.42 but my reaction time was .20
