Creaking and Squeaking when Cornering?

Hey Guys,

My '08 R32 has been making this strange noise coming from the right front wheel well for some time now. It is loudest at low speeds and only happens when I am turning to the left (putting pressure on the right side.) It's like a creaky/squeaking noise and I cannot figure out what it is. I have aftermarket Bilstein shocks/struts (previous owner had them installed at dealer,) and when I got the car and had it looked at by the dealer they just said that's what happens when you put aftermarket stuff on? Doesn't seem right though, and it only comes from the one side. Performance does not appear to be affected, just driving me crazy and everyone who gets in my car thinks it's broken! :mad0259:

Anyone have any ideas what this might be??? Please help!

Ahhh ok that would make sense. ECS Tuning has them available for cheap so perhaps I'll buy them and have the old ones repleaced when I go in for my 40k inspection in a month or so. Thanks for the input and I'll let ya know if that does the trick!

It is certainly your issue. I assume this is the ECS part you're looking at:

Well good luck resolving it, let us know.

Cheers

wheel bearing

Not much chance of it being this. The upper strut bearing failure has some characteristics making it easy to diagnose. The bearing binds and then slips when turning at low speed. If the left bearing has failed then turning right tends to show the issue. And the opposite for the right bearing. If sounds terrible. It creaks as it binds, but pops when it let's go. It's also a fairly common issue.

word to the wise for dub owners: change the strut bearings every time you do anything to the suspension beyond a simple alignment. yeah, the pieces suck and i regard them as basically disposable & replaceable. noisy little suckers.
