Vs. some civic

So I'm driving home from my gf's last night at about 2:30 and as I'm sitting in my car waiting for it to warm up a bit I see this red ricey civic pass by and cut through the silence with its fart cannon. I wait a bit for my car to warm up and I pull away. Anyway, I end up getting a light next to this thing a couple kms up the road and I know he's going to go since he starts reving. I figure it'll be an easy push over so I don't use any revs for the launch and just calmly wait for the light to change. The light changes and I kind of calmly launch the car thinking it will be a simple victory anyway. Damnit, to my surprise I was wrong and this POS civic actually beats me, gets in front and turns his 4ways on At this point I get kind of upset and feel as though I am letting down the entire VDub community or something because I just got beaten by what looks like just any riced civic hatch from 1998. So we get another light about 600m up the road, and I'm thinking I must redeem myself. This time I launch at about 2000rpm or so and immediately get a jump and easily I get ahead by a couple car lengths. Now I don't know if it was late and I was tired or dreaming but im pretty sure I heard a BOV, so I guess it was running a turbo. Again we get a light but this time he's in front of me because there's another car in the lane next to him. Light green, he goes again and I get a sweet launch and just pull around him on the right and get a few cars on him again and shut down. So I suppose I redeemed myself for that initial loss but it still angers me a bit. I think perhaps he was running a modest turbo setup with BOV and fart cannon (not like that matters) and probably some other standard bolt-ons.

hey man dont let it get to you.. if they beat you they beat you, the thing is you never know what those cars are running.. some can be all riced out with nothing good while others can have some serious work done so i deff never underestimate those cars..good stuff though
