Fault Code

01426 - Controls in Steering Wheel (E221)
004 - No Signal/Communication

So the horn and steering wheel buttons (Volume, menu etc..) quit working.

Some time back they would not work and the next day they would.

I followed the special notes from ross-tech.
Stating to check the SB2 and SB16 fuse.
Which they look fine.

Now, Does this mean that the Steering Column control module needs to be replaced??

EDIT ::
Which control module do I use?

I was looking at which control module to get.

I see there are quite a few.

What's the best way to determine which one it is ??

I was just about to post a freaking thread before I saw this.
Same thing happened to me, i think? Steering wheel buttons are unresponsive and the horn does not work.

yeah man,

First, Check your sb16 fuse in the engine bay box. If your lucky... it's that.

There is not alot of stuff about this.
I do have a DIy on swapping the sterring column control module as well as the necessary vag-com programming to follow.

But, until I vag mine tomorrow... I won't know which damn module i need. Soo many part numbers for one part.

Also, I have yet to research anything on the "clockspring" .. any links to share?

I'll post the DIY once i get to my other computer.

I am not sure if this is the correct part for your car, but if it is, ECS has a heck of a deal on the VW 1K0959653A clockspring: Replacement clockspring
