Red face Rust looking spots

Hey All,

After sometime in storage and moving and lots of automatic car washes my concience lulled me back to hand washing my GTi.

This picture is what I found. I've got tons of little rust looking spots ALL OVER THE CAR. They are the worst on the rear hatch.

What is this? How do I remove it? PLEASE HELP!

Cleaning wax or little bit of rubbing compound. Just scrub those spots becareful not to push o hard and burn the paint

My girlfriend's Rav4 had the same kind of spots on her white paint, also mostly on the hatch. It came right off with claybar and some elbow grease.

Tiny bits of metal from the road debris get imbedded into your clear coat and begin to oxidize, causing surface rust. This is especially noticable on the hatch because the aerodynamics of our cars pick up road dirt like a hoover. Clay bar or a good cleaner wax will remove it, and regular waxing will keep them at bay. Also, wax the jambs of your hatch to protect those areas from oxidation as well!
