In case anybody has what seems like motor skipping and momentary power losses or some more pronounced fuel cut feelings while boosting and gets code# P0089 there's a high probability the Thrust Sensor on the high pressure fuel pump has gone bad.

From what I've gathered, the original part is susceptible to fuel intrusion and I think VW recognized it in 2008 with a technical bulletin and corrected the problem with the part. The new part has a new part number...RC

I believe this is what went on my car. It's at the dealer now. I got fuel cuts even off boost and at low throttle positions.

I'd beat that it's a bad Thrust Sensor cuz it controls low pressure side...

$68 DIY, but pls let us know what the dealer charges...RC

$67?! Daaaaang. I got mine for $52 or something like that from the dealer when I had my APR pump. I guess prices have gone up due to necessity?

Well damn. Nothing like profiting off of an engineering flaw to make it a good day. Good job, VW. Lol.

They changed the timing belt tensioner under warranty and did the recall on the airbag sensor.

They did however charge me $107 to get the codes off my ECU... THAT I GAVE TO THEM ON PAPER. So basically they charged me for nothing. Can VWoA help me with this? :|

I doubt you'll ever get any of that $107 back, but for future reference auto parts stores such as Advance will read and clear codes for you for FREE!

I have a VAGCOM and I took the codes out myself and printed them. I showed it to them and I told them that I thought it was the thrust sensor. They didn't hear any of it and charged me to "diagnose" my car . Which was just to get the codes off of it, that I left for them on the passenger seat.

Doesn't work that way. VW won't reimbuse from YOUR print outs. You can make a print out read mostly anything you want. Pull the connector off a coil and see what the print out reads. Doesn't mean the coil is bad.
