I am on a tight budget but i want a downpipe for my 2006 GTI MKV......i saw a 3" downpipe (OBX) for around $150 on ebay......i know thats cheap, but will it do the job? Or is there another brand that is similar that works well? I just dont have the money for custom made parts......Any help is greatly appreciated.

ebay downpipes are the cheapest you can get, make a low ball offer on one and see if they accept it. if not slightly increase your offer until you get one. they can be had for cheap.

I'm in the same boat. Need to get a down pipe and intake before I go stage 2. The Billy Boat dp is widely used. Personally I've been holding out for an APR down pipe but i can't decide if I'd be paying for the name more than anything else....

If you get an Ebay downpipe get the megan racing, it's at least some what of a name brand and probably better quality, it's not the same as the no-name ebay downpipes and it has a welded Megan Racing nameplate on it. I've had it on my car for two weeks now and no issues with smelling/leaks or any problems, it's also mated to the stock catback and sounds great. Mechanic had no troubles putting it on and said it had good quality welds and it fit great without any issues. It's 2.5" so it doesn't require a reduction to the stock catback.

As others may have said it's not necessary to spend the $700 on a catted DP from an APR or AWE unless you want the expensive metal/high density cats for possibly passing sniffer tests during inspection. The gains are even better on catless anyway. I'm sure the vendors will come on here and tell you different but the dynos don't lie, just save some money.

do you have stage 1 already?

All you need for stage 2 is the upgraded (revision D DV) and a 3" downpipe. The stage 2+ requires the upgraded HPFP

All in all, 250-260 HP for stage 2

Billy Boat used to make APR's exhaust systems.
I am running the 3" catless B&B and love it. Just got APR stage II flash as well so no CEL.

Not true. 3" on the ko3 is overkill and results in a loss of backpressure / low end torque. Unless you plan to rock a ko4 or BT eventually not neccesary. The awe is 2.5" fyi.
