Hi,

Im working on a mates 2009 Jetta which has RCD310 unit

I have put in a GTI MFSW (new layout 8-button from golf mk5)and carried out all the work to get it in and wired up and coded. Used 1k0953549AQ.

Iv got the right side of the wheel controlling the highline DIS no problem, but i cant get the vol or mute working on the left side of the wheel.

Iv coded the RNS310 to say Shortpress multifunction buttons installed but it wont work. There was no BAP option.

I had a similar prob with a RNS510 and i pressed (setup + voice control + eject) and the unit reset itself and began working.

Is there a similar reset combo of buttons to get the RCD310 to talk to my MFSW??? or maybe a battery disconnect.

Appreciate the help :D

Try this site

or PM Maverick, he might have some pearls of wisdom for you.

Cheers iv PM'd him.. hope he has a solution.

my-gti website didnt have anything conclusive i dont think.

Its odd only the right side of the wheel is working.. It controls the highline display no problem and both sides of the buttons illuminate at night.

Surely this means that Iv done everything properly in the assembly and coding and used the correct parts.

The fact that the left side buttons illuminate at night but do nothing to control the RCD310 radio means the radio is at fault no?

Hope my common sense is correct :)

Hi just. Quick note to see if you got this sorted out as I have exactly the same issue on a GTI mk6 mfsw retrofit to a 2007 passat with a rcd310

Unfortunately the solution is to swap the unit. I took out the rcd310 and replaced it with an rcd300 (the previous generation radio) and it worked fine with the multifunction so the problem lies with the radio.

The RCD-310 definitely works with the new type Mk.5 MFSW w/ 8 buttons an the AQ module. How do I know? Have them on mine! The only button that doesn't work is the phone button, which I believe is supposed to mute the radio?

Did you upgrade the CAN gateway as well? I believe it won't work with the old type gateway and the radio will slowly drain the battery with the old one as well.

It was a 2009 vehicle so it already has a later spec gateway as standard and no battery drain occured.
