I like this thread, but I just cannot see myself on a bike until having phones in cars becomes illegal.

Nearly anything will "hold its own" with traffic. My first ride was a '78 Honda Hawk 400 hand-me-down. Power is rarely an issue, even on that thing. The issue is mass. Something that tall and light on the highway is a nightmare. The bow wake off the front of a tractor-trailer will knock you into the next lane.

Given, nobody makes a bike that poorly balanced anymore, even HD/Buell. They've come a long way since the 70's. But interstate is one place where a little mass between your legs helps.

Like I said, I'm not even sure I'd do a uber-light 600cc super-sport on the super slab in traffic.

Wouldn't change much. Phones don't make people fucking stoopid; they are that way all by themselves.

If you ride in traffic, you absolutely need to adopt the mentality that every cager is intentionally out to kill you. Seriously, think end of the world, zombies at every corner type shit. Paranoia is your friend.

I averaged a 'near miss' about 1/month, 6-7 times a year back when I was riding regularly.

Good call. Im checking out a 03 Blaster today or tomorrow. Its got a couple of mods and selling for $900. If its in "ok" condition, ill pick it up and use it as a commuter bike and call it a day. Im only on a 60+ MPH "highway" for about 9 or 10 of the 22 miles I drive. So I think I should be fine.

Not worth the anti-bike bullshit that comes with'em.

Loud pipes risk rights.

So like a state highway? Limit is like 55-ish? If so, yeah, no problem. It's the 65+MPH Interstate highway-where people actually do 75-80MPH alot-that I would avoid on a smaller bike.

$900?! I'd do it. Hell, that's a mediocre set of shocks for the MkV.
