Tools needed:
1) PB blaster
2) 13mm wrench
3) 10mm wrench
4) Zip ties
5) (1inch") Hole Plug by Hillman (Purchased at lowes for 1.39 + tax)
6) Phillips screwdriver
7) Needle nose pliers
8) Small towel/rag

Use the Pillips screwdriver to remove the two screws located inside the trunk/ hatch area of your vehicle.

Removing the trunk cover wasn't difficult. Start from a corner and work your away around, be gentle and take your time, you will hear the metal clips snap off one by one. (10 metal clips total, some might be stuck on the trunk area, use the needle head pliers to remove them)

Remove plastic cover off the rear windshield wiper.

Use 13mm wrench to take off the lug nut

Use PB blaster and wait 10-15 min to remove rear wiper off

Unplug the harness and the hose from the motor (use the 10mm wrench to remove the 3 lugs)

Removing the rear wiper is very difficult, take your time. Move the wiper left to right and pull backwards at the same time. It'll come off eventually.

The plug is not a perfect fit so I used tape around it to prevent water from entering the trunk area.

Use zip ties to hold the harness and hose together( this will prevent any rattling)

Put everthing the way it was and enjoy your new clean look !

Great DIY, I used WD-40 on mine and it was preety much useless. PB Blaster is an absolute necessity if you don't want to end up using vice grips like I did. For the cap I used silicone and it sealed it perfectly. But if you don't care about scratching the wiper arm vice grips work perfectly.

nice diy!

i use my rear wiper a good amount, so removal is not in my cards.

I don't really use mine. Very rare, it usually makes a mess and makes my car dirty very easily.

The rear wiper is actually really easy to take off if you use the following technique:

Flip the nut that you just removed around and thread it about two turns back onto the stud; now, you can take a pair of pliers and squeeze from both the top and bottom. This method takes literally ten seconds. Here is a crappy picture which may or may not help.

I posted this a while back in another wiper delete thread, and quite a few people found it helpful so I figured I would post it again.

I pulled mine off by hand in like 5 seconds...

No WD40 or anything. Just worked it back and forth twice each way and it pulled right off. I probably got lucky.

Did this one today, looks sweet:

A couple things I learned
  1. VW secures that rear body panel with the clips from hell, I had to pull so fing hard to get them off
  2. When putting hte body panel back on, put a towel over your bumper so you don't scratch the painted part if you accidently drop the panel mid re-attachment
  3. Home Depot does not cary the plug... Only Lowes does... In the hardware section
  4. While you are at Lowe's buy a small tube of water/weather proof/resistant silicon cause it's more like a 1.00005" hole, just big enough so that the plug doesn't actually fully plug it out
  5. plan out how you are going to tie up the plugs... They will rattle and be annoying if not, and those f'ing body clips do not get any easier to pull out the second time around
