I'm leaking oil around the valve cover gasket area, I do see that many have had the same problem but I couldn't find a diy on it..I'm sure it's simple - I've pulled engines before, but I haven't opened up an engine newer than 1987!

Anyone got a walk thru on it? Pretty sure just the gasket needs replaced..

its pretty easy just:
1: unplug the coil pack connectors
2. remove coil packs
3. remove top timing cover
4. remove nuts and bolts
5. clean
6. install new gasket
7 do 4-1 in reverse

I think this is most of the steps needed for to install a new valve cover gasket

Anyone have any idea what N/m or lb/ft the bolts need to be tightened to?

10Nm
or
about 7.5 ft/lbs

definitely use a torque wrench on this

Intersting it's spiral then corners. I would have thought it would be center bolts first then work your way to the ends.

you make it seem so simple, its just gonna screw people over because torquing the bolts is the most important part.

I did mine. Really isnt tough. Just make sure you have a torque wrench and take your time putting the bolts back on.

Mine was leaking as well and holy shit the previous owner or dealer had torqued the shit out of them. The vavle gasket was actually flattened in some areas from being on so tight.

I think it was leaking and the tech was like, "hmmm lets torque the shit out of it... should work."

So essentially if I put new plugs in and I already have a catch can and I pull my plugs and there is oil on the threads I should replace the gasket?
