head rest

HI guys. I was wondering if I can take out head rest? I want to fold my seats in the back cuz i need some more room, but i tried to take out head rest and it doesn't want to go out. Is it possible? If yes how do you do it ? thanks in advance.

yeah you can my friends do it to me all the time when sitting in my car i turn around and all my head rest are off. i think yoi just push the button hold it and pull it out.

i say yank a little harder and if you break it tell the dealership it just fell apart and you have no clue why.

You've got the rabbit so your seats are different. He's got the leather GTI seats.

i have the cloth seats and i can't get adjust my center headrest in the back to come up...anybody else have this problem?

rear headrests on leather setup are removable

You can get the rear headrest off on US Spec leather MK V GTI seats. Force is NOT the answer. On the rear headrest, both posts are locked - same lock mechanism on both sides, different trim cap. The second release is hidden beneath the slot on the side that does not appear to have a release button. It does have a button like the other side, but it is hidden underneath the trim cap.

thanks for reminding me, I have to stop at the dealer parts dept today to pick up a piece I ordered. I am going to order three of the caps with button access and replace the ones with the tiny hole. will post back with part number and pics.
