DIY: I plastidipped my cam follower! (pics inside)

I was trying to engineer a solution to cam follower wear. I thought that if I could just put a tough substance onto the cam follower itself, that I might be able to make the DLC coating on the cam follower last longer.

Plastidip is a versatile and tough product. I figure, people have tried it everywhere for different reasons, why not try it on the cam follower. I take no responsibility for any damages which may (and likely will) occur from this modification. Try at your own risk.

So begins my DIY:

Step 1: Get a can of plastidip and open it. Get your cam follower.

Step 2: Dip cam follower in plastidip.

Step 3: Take cam follower out of plastidip.

Disclaimer: No cam followers were actually harmed in the taking of these pictures.

Disclaimer part 2: Don't actually do this. It's not a good itea. I'm not responsible if you're too stupid to realize that this is a joke and you actually plastidip a cam follower and use it as a component in an engine. If you do this, I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.

I don't know. I put it in last night after I plastidipped it. The car ran for about 10 seconds then the word "FAIL" was written in capital letters on the MFD. No check engine light, just FAIL. The car still runs though.

How long did you let it dry before installing it? Did you shake the can? What temperature was this done at? If you're going to be putting high impact coatings on your internals you gotta make sure everything is right!
