APR DP Routing

just wanted to check on something that i've been wondering about: if you look below the intake heatshield at the downpipe... should it be centered in the tunnel that runs under the car? this is a horrible picture, i know, but mine definitely isn't centered... its off to the right in this pictures orientation and its up against the heat shield

my other concern is that when i was torquing down the VF mounts, the front end of the car was in the air. i know thats not ideal, but could it cause issues?

There was an issue with "older" APR DP's being offcentered and touching the firewall.Mine did, and it was the "fixed" support version.

APR replaced it for me cause it was starting to eat away at the flex joint.

Take some better pics and send them to APR to see what they say....

are you guys talking about the RSC exhaust or the earlier APR exhaust? cause they told me that that is the "normal" routing...

AFAIK RSC is all about the cat back section.

The downpipe, if it is the version with the tightening nut, then you can easily shift it a bit.

The problem existed with the older fixed version that contacted the firewall.

from what i can tell i think the only adjustment would be to unbolt it at the dp gasket and use the play in the bolt holes to angle it downward a little more. is that what you're talking about?

No no.

There is a medium sized bolt that connects the DP to its support. That bolt can move up/down and kinda sideways since the slit in which it moves is not vertical but also goes from left to right. That is the only adjustment you can do.

Oh, and there shouldn't be any "play" in the DP bolts to the turbo...

Well there is no other way to remove a DP AFAIK...

Just contact APR and see what they tell you.

For me, i just caught it in time.It wasn't pierced, but was getting there...

from what i've read i'd say apr has handled it quite well, if send a replacement part to affected customers that resolves the issue what more could you really ask for?

my own personal laziness has nothing to do with the way apr handles the issue.

For APR have been excellent about this.

Maybe another company wouldn't handle it as well...

I have to say they were lucky though,to have a detachable curving section, or else they would have to replace the whole cat also, and thats $$$$$ money....
