^^ I dont like the rules this year either. They are alrdy proposing rules for next season and are thinking about a 40million dollar budget. Which apparently is really low for all the teams. Toyota alrdy said they are pulling out of th 2010 season unless they change the budget and i believe some other rules they plan on doing.

There are plenty of racing series with spec engines. If that's what you're looking for, it's already out there.

I don't see what the big to-do is with Button winning. Ferrari and McLaren have typically designed better cars and have won races because of it. This year, other teams designed better cars and are winning and everyone is all bent out of shape. Get over it. Alonso is a great example of a driver put in a great car with Ferrari... He's now with Renault and not doing as well. That is the nature of the sport and exactly why I enjoy it so much.

Well Ferrari officially announced now that they won't be back for next season unless the FIA changes the new rules that are established for 2010

I like how it is now, that there's great competition and not one or two very strong manufacturers that dominate all the time. However, giving racers almost identical cars kills the spirit of competition in my view. I might as well go watch Indy cars or NASCAR for that matter.

Quote:

Ferrari release statement following board meeting

“The Board of Directors also examined developments related to recent decisions taken by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile during an extraordinary meeting of the World Motor Sport Council on 29 April 2009. Although this meeting was originally called only to examine a disciplinary matter, the decisions taken mean that, for the first time ever in Formula One, the 2010 season will see the introduction of two different sets of regulations based on arbitrary technical rules and economic parameters.

“The Board considers that if this is the regulatory framework for Formula One in the future, then the reasons underlying Ferrari’s uninterrupted participation in the World Championship over the last 60 years - the only constructor to have taken part ever since its inception in 1950 - would come to a close.

“The Board also expressed its disappointment about the methods adopted by the FIA in taking decisions of such a serious nature and its refusal to effectively reach an understanding with constructors and teams. The rules of governance that have contributed to the development of Formula One over the last 25 years have been disregarded, as have the binding contractual obligations between Ferrari and the FIA itself regarding the stability of the regulations. The same rules for all teams, stability of regulations, the continuity of the FOTA’s endeavours to methodically and progressively reduce costs, and governance of Formula One are the priorities for the future. If these indispensable principles are not respected and if the regulations adopted for 2010 will not change, then Ferrari does not intend to enter its cars in the next Formula One World Championship.

“Ferrari trusts that its many fans worldwide will understand that this difficult decision is coherent with the Scuderia’s approach to motor sport and to Formula One in particular, always seeking to promote its sporting and technical values. The Chairman of the Board of Directors was mandated to evaluate the most suitable ways and methods to protect the company’s interests.”

Right now it may be ok, but they are making it worst for next year, and apparently Ferrari isn't the only ones that pulled out
Toyota, Ferrari, BMW, Mclaren, Renault, Red bull, Toro Rosso. I believe thats all

Alonso won his titles with Renault before going to McLaren for a year and then going back to Renault.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out with the manufacturers threatening to pull out. Might be nothing but Brawn GP-esque teams left when it is all said and done. I don't see F1 doing very well without major auto manufacturer involvement.

I don't have a problem with a spec series. I watch IndyCar way more than F1 and it is currently spec (multiple motor manufacturers likely in 2011 though).

It won't be exciting, I'll tell you that much. Just look at WRC now that there's only two manufacturers involved (Ford and Citroën). Loeb has won the last 5 championships and is well on his way to winning his sixth. The only driver to have had a chance to beat him is Hirvonen, and even that driver never came close. Well, Loeb was winning even when there were more cars in the line up, but now with only 2 manufacturers involved, WRC seems to have lost some prestige. That's what is going to happen to F1 should all those major manufacturers pull out.

I know a great deal of things, however pre-2008 F1 is not one of them.

It seems that the only people who are pissed are those wearing red. The cars are proving to be faster than ever and just as competitive as any other year. I have a feeling that if the KERS cars were the dominant force it would be a very different story ("the future of racing" blah blah blah) but the Brawn cars with a little extra down force are dominating and people are pouting. Ferrari is looking like a bunch of bratty babies.

Red Bull also has the best aero guy in the sport, which I have mentioned earlier.

I am not a big fan of KERS at all. It has not proven reliable and even though old Bern has done all he can to slow the cars down with smaller wings and wing elements, it really doesn't matter.

Just go back to V12's and let's see how fast they really can go.

I'm not that mad with the new series, it still iis pretty good. I'm just mad at Ferrari for sucking ass. Also the FIA with there new rules for 2010 are gonna ruin F1 if it doesn't get changed.

Ferrari will get there!!! The commentators were saying the next race in turkey is one of Masa's best track, so we will see how he performs there. Apparently Masa is great at the 4 apex turn over there

Anyone watch practice?

And don't forget the race is on Fox on Sunday so set your DVR accordingly.

Now for some funny.
