Parking light and bumper lens light on same circuit!

Just bought 09 GTI 2 weeks ago. Been searching sites on my issue for the entire time. Pass side parking light and bumper lens light were both out at the time. I replaced one bulb at a time and neither socket registered any voltage. I was in the process of locating the fuse when it dawned on me. Maybe BOTH parking light and bumper lens need to have good bulbs at the same time to complete the circuit? Sure enough, I replace BOTH bulbs with good bulbs and it worked. Assumed they would be independent so it took me 2 weeks to fix.
