205/40/18 or 215/40/18 on a 18x10?

Hey guys

So, i'm on a quest to tuck a 10" rim in the rear.

Yes, body work in the rear is going to be done to tuck the 10.

Now, right now I have 18 x 8 and 18 x 9 on 205/40/18 all around.

I'm going to move the 18 x 9 to the front, and then pick up a pair of 18 x 10s.

Now the thing is, i'm still going to have an extra pair of 205/40/18s. I'd like to use them, but...thing is, is that way too extreme to run a 205/40/18 on an 18x10?

I guess I could always just keep the extra pair of 205/40/18s for the front and buy a pair of 215s, but still.

Not sure if I actually NEED a 205 in the rear to tuck the 10, or if I can get away with a 215.

Thanks guys!

Heres 215/40/17 would look the same as an 18.

I personally would go with a 215 series tire or a 205 series with a slightly higher side wall. 205/45/18.

35 would risk the wheel too much and really wouldn’t be worth it to me. 215/40 would be the safest route after seeing more pics.

Hmm, well I know 215/40/18 on an 18x10 would look fine. I can live with that no problem. Should be pretty similar with a 205/40/18 on a 9.

Probably a bit more stretch.

^^^^ You could run a 205/40 on a 10" but I wouldn't want to do it everyday. Those lips would be prone to damage very easily.

So even you woudln't recommend it eh?

215/35 if you wanted to get crazy with it.

205/45 would be way too much sidewall and would look chunky.

Doesn't look as bad as I would expect 215/35/18 to look like!

Seems to be 215/40/18 is the route that most people are recommending.

That really doesn't look as bad as I imagined it would.

+1

So I guess because finding 205/40/18 isn't really happening on an 18x10,

Closest thing i've found was:

http://www.tyrestretch.com/10_205_40_R16/ (Can't link the actual picture, tyrestretch isn't working properly right now)

Is it even WORTH it to try and mount the 205/40/18 to the 10? Or should I just say fuck it and order a pair of 215/40/18s and save myself the trouble and keep the extra 205s for later on?

Thanks in Advance Guys

More opinions please!

215/35/40 I THINK ONLY Falkens make them.215/40/18 is more common size.

I have no clue what you're trying to say in that first part of the post, haha.

215/40/18 is more common, except I already have a pair of 205/40/18 right now, so I was wondering if those would even seat on an 18x10.

215's would be best i think, as far as daily usage and imho looks.

Guess I'll have to fork out even more money for them

God dammit. I"ve gone through...

215/35/19 on BBS CKs
215/40/18 on BBS IMPULs Pre-Air Ride
205/40/18 on BBS IMPULs Post-Air Ride
205/40/18 & 215/40/18 on BBS IMPULs Post-Air Ride & Larger Rears.

That's just this year...:frown:

Fuck, what's wrong with me

I got 215/40 falken 512's on a 18x9.5 and the stretch is decent, I think it would be perfect on a 18x10

Hmm. I have a buddy with 215/40s on Falken 912s on an 18x9.5 (Alphards), haven't seen them yet though.

I feel liek it'd be perfect too, but is it cost effective to have an EXTRA pair of 205/40s lying around, and then have to buy 215/40s again :frown:

If I sold the 205/40s, then meh, i'd be all over the 215/40s so I'm not scared shitless about bending a lip or something.

Your crazy. You know I'd run a 205/40 if not a 215/35 in a heart beat on a 10" wide wheel.

Orly?

So...now if you were me, would you do it, while daily driving is a better question.

Like you said about the 205s getting to seat, whoever is mounting your tires would probably have to push almost 100 psi in those wheels to get the bead to stretch over and finally seat…
