After intermittently working for a while, my '08 GTI's trunk light has gone off and I can't seem to figure out what's wrong with it. Here's what I know:
Any ideas what could be the cause and where I should look next?
- It's not the bulb;
- It's not the connector either;
- The light assembly seems to be fine (though I can't figure out how to test the diode);
- The hatch latch sensor seems to work -- or at least shows up on the MFD when it's open;
- And what's the weirdest of all: there are about 0.6V coming down the cable when the trunk is open, dropping to 0V when it's closed. So some current is coming down the wire but not the full 12V.
Any ideas what could be the cause and where I should look next?
