Need to replace transmission!!!! Any advice?

Unfortunately, I'm not covered under warranty, and I'm over 100,000 now anyway.

Just an update: It's exactly one year later, and my transmission is still "fine" although I noticed the past month that it's making more noise. I've been driving it 50 to 75 miles for 5 days a week for the past year though without issue.

I have been noticing intermitant roughness when shifting from 2-3 gears and am at the point of getting my tranny inspected/rebuilt. My suspicion is worn syncro.
If I double clutch from 2-3 there are no issues. Everything else is completely fine with tranny operation and clutch seems strong still. I'm sitting at 180000km.
This repair seems hella expensive, but I would like to keep this car for another 10 yrs if I can so I'm willing to sink money into it if necessary.

Wondering if I should do more while the car is in the shop, like re-do the clutch and anything else that could be done preventative maintenance wise.
I also am considering rolling the dice and adapting the double clutch shift from 2-3 to postpone this repair.
