No Check Engine Light but lots of engine fault codes

Has anyone ever had a case of no check engine light but a bunch of new fault codes during a scan?

P2187
P1093
P1297
P0441
P2279
P2187

All just happened to be hidden away only seen due to a scan cause I started having the car rev on its own up to 2000 rpm. But didn't expect all of those.

The common cause across 80-90% of those seem to be a vacuum leak or some misconnected pipe otherwise....its an expensive bill adding up there. EDIT: It also seems a number of them recommends looking at the Crankcase Breather Valve (PCV if I'm not correct) under special notes (RossTech).

The car seems to be running fine no loss of power that I can sense. Car is running smooth now - even the rev issue disappeared on its own. Gremlins?

Can someone help explain to me why the check engine light did not come on? (there were no codes that indicated any dash related item needed switching).

EDIT 25/05: LOG below of the Engine fault codes. Hope this may shine some light on things.

They are soft codes, stuff that isn't major or critical engine failure. Also usually thrown if it was a one time occurrence only. Depending on mileage the PCV does need to be changed somewhat regularly, they are known to fail over time or when used on a tuned car.

Replacing the PCV would be my recommended start point and see if any of the codes come back.

Hi Das I was thinking it was that but considering some of the possible causes which included a faulty fuel pump I was a bit surprised. But I guess possibilities can be an endless list. Thanks for at least calming me on the issue.

Thankfully I do have the 42DD catch can to put in and we can see how it goes.

Of course bro, that's what we are all here for. Really glad you have the catch can to install, honestly IMO that's the only real solution to the issue and it's permanent (if you so choose). Just make sure you keep an eye on it in the winter, lines can freeze and cause big issues.

I state South Africa cause it makes it easier for everyone to localize without a google search however I'm actually in a neighboring country (Mozambique).

Das, one question, not part of this situation but if a check engine light comes on then goes off by the ignition reset approach does this mean its not critical causes its not a hard code or should it be looked at instantly? I always scan but my line of thinking is that its not critical if it resets this way.

Thanks

It could be a vacuum leak. Does the 42DD CC factor in both the front PCV check valve and the back one by the turbo?

http://www.42draftdesigns.com/mk5-golf-r-fsi-ultimate-oil-catch-can-solution-an-fittings/ - don't think so?

Where should I look first for the leak? (most likely places)

I had the same engine rev issue and it turned out to be my brake booster hose - the long S shaped one was cracked at the base of the brake fill container. Apparently it is a common issue as cracking occurs with engine movement. When coming to a stop my car would rev to around 2k and then slowly drop back to idle. I have an 07 as well and honestly our piping and hoses are nearing a decade of use. I have found assorted split tubing here and there in the engine compartment lately. I suggest pulling the cover and inspecting everything and anything you can get to. A smoke vacuum leak test can also narrow the search.

Hi I'm having some similar issues with my MKV GTI. I've got the following error codes:

P2279 - Intake system leak
P2187 - System too lean at idle, Bank 1
P0441 - EVAP Emission Control system incorrect PURGE FLOW

I've had the following components changed on the car which has not solved the issue:

PCV valve
Purge valve
Carbon canister

Does anybody have any ideas as to what it could be? I've been dealing with this for the bast 6 or so months and it's driving me nuts
