Hi Guys and Gals,

Im after as much information as possible with reference to the Valve in the rear box section of my standard exhaust system on my R32. What's it for what does it do? How is it controlled? I have 1 tip running a little sooty and 1 tip running clean is this a problem?

Cheers

Im not sure of the exact workings but here goes. The valve is part of the bi-modal exhaust. At a certain rpm the valve opens and allows the exhaust to run straight thru the rear box. The pipes on this car get very sooty so not a problem just annoying. If you look at the exhaust there is a bit of piping that connects the system which you can cut and plug with a golf tee! This will allow the exhast to travel straight thru from start rather than waiting for the valve to open at 3000rpm or whatever. Its called the flapper mod.

It is open at idle, closer just above and opens agains at about 3200.

I cut my hose and blocked 1st day I took it home :) over 3 years ago.
You wont regret the change in exh note ;)

I used a 4mm hose joiner blocked with glue.
